Course Scheme

MTB Leader Courses

The widest provision of high quality Mountain Bike Leader qualifications available, covering everything from low level terrain to mountains in the UK and Europe. These incorporate some rider and skills development but are primarily designed for those leading rides.

CTC (and OTC beforehand) has provided Mountain Bike Leader qualifications since 1997. A thoroughly proven system of high quality qualifications mean that Leaders can provide for their groups in a wide variety of environments with the best tools and skills to ensure the four e's:

The four e's

  • Ensure safety - You, your group, other users
  • Enjoyment - Your group members enjoy what you provide because you have games, ideas and loads of enthusiasm
  • Engagement - You have the skills to match rides and skills development sessions to your group members age and stage of ability
  • Education - Your group members come away from your rides knowing more, whether it be about mountain biking or other aspect of the area used

Course StructureLeader Awards

A wide choice of progressive Leader courses suit different experiences and environments.

Courses link together so that each one picks up from the last, uses it's content and application to further and deepen your knowledge and skills.

Dynamic delivery and involvement

You won't want to attend a course just to have someone tell you what to do. Which is why we make sure that our courses get you involved. You will be riding your bike, discussing, formulating ideas, trying things out, getting your hands dirty, discovering and working out what, how and why. CTC tutors are very good at making sure that (within the qualification requirements) courses suit your needs and current or future working environments.

Costs

We also have an ethical stance on course costs. The price you see per course is the price you pay. There are no hidden 'extras' like registration, logbook, resources, accommodation or annual membership. Though you are expected to maintain a log of led rides following your qualification and keep your first aid up to date, you do not need to pay out money to maintain your Leader status.

The professionals choice

CTC provides courses for the largest organisations in the UK as well as some of the smallest. Our customer base includes Forestry Commission; Thomas Cook; Crystal Active; PGL; many local education authorities and independant providers, with courses and customers in the UK and throughout Europe. Whether a large multi-national or a small independant provider, we are the professionals choice.

Approvals

With the widest range of qualifications available and clear progression routes, as well as the ability to provide skills awards to your group members, The CTC scheme is the most widely recognised and approved mountain bike leader qualification system available with UK (Adventure Activities Licensing service) approval as well as provision throughout Europe and approvals further afield.
